First thing is first; I DON’T CONDONE PIRACY! PERIOD! IF YOU USE THIS TUTORIAL/SOFTWARE YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. I AM NOT PUTTING A KNIFE TO YOUR THROAT OR A GUN TO YOUR HEAD. DO NOT PIRATE! THE ONLY REASON TO USE THIS SOFTWARE IS TO BACKUP YOUR OWN GAMES SO THAT YOU CAN PUT AWAY THE DISC OR TO MAKE YOUR CURRENT GAMES LOAD FASTER.

This does not work if you’re on FW 3.56+

Things you’ll need:
KMEAW CFW: kmeaw’s 3.55 CFW Patched PUP
MULTIMAN: MultiMAN+ver+02.09.02+FULL+(20111011-111011) (100)
A USB STICK w/ 200MB space

First insert your USB stick in the computer

Inside the USB stick make a Folder called PS3

Inside the PS3 Folder make a folder called UPDATE

Extract kmeawcfw.zip and place the PS3UPDAT.PUP in the UPDATE folder.

Your USB stick should look like this: /PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP

Now download MULTIMAN and place that on the root of your USB stick (not inside any folders)

Put USB stick in your PS3.

Make sure your PS3 is on the OFFICIAL 3.55 FIRMWARE – not a Jailbreak version.

Go to System Settings and update your PS3 Firmware – Not from internet, instead choose from MEDIA/USB stick.

Hit Yes to update.

Once update is complete, PS3 Will boot back up. Once booted, go to the GAME Menu.

Scroll down to “Install Package Files”

Click it and select MULTIMAN.

Once installed, you’ll see MULTIMAN under the Game menu. Just run it like you would a normal game.

How to Backup PS3 Games

First thing you need to do is backup a game. Insert a game into the PS3.
Open Multiman and you’ll see your game listed. Highlight it and hit O. This will start backing up your game.
Games are backed up to dev_hdd0/GAMES folder on your PS3.

How to Play PS3 Backup Games

Keep a DISC in the PS3 Drive.

OPEN MULTIMAN

Highlight the game you want to play and hit X.

It will tell you Direct Boot is not recommended and that you should return to XMB. Return to XMB screen.

Once there, select the DISC image (you’ll notice that if you have NBA2k in the Drive but you selected Madden11 from MULTIMAN, it changes the DISC image to Madden11 even though NBA2k is in the drive. Did I lose you? lol)

If you play a game that asks to update, go ahead and update the game. Most games can be updated no problem. Enjoy!

Enjoy your game.

I did a lot of reading trying to get my Magic Mouse to work with Windows 7 (64-bit). I finally got it up and running.

Before Windows would just install it as a regular wireless mouse with no scrolling or swiping. I extracted the Windows Drivers from the Boot Camp update and included them here in a zip for everyone.

The instructions to install this are easy. This works for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. The zip file includes drivers for both 32bit and 64bit systems.

Download: Magicmousedrivers (47)

Extract it and select the appropriate folder for your operating system. Inside the folder you’ll find DPInst.exe.

Pair/Connect your Magic Mouse with your computer.

Right click on DPInst and select “Run as Administrator”. Once it’s installed, just reboot your computer and you’ll be all set.

An FTP Program for your Computer, I used CoreFTP – http://www.coreftp.com/
A Hex Editor – I used HxD – http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/

Username/Password for your PS3 FTP is blank. If it makes you put something, just put a space for username and for password.

Ive got windows so im writing this for windows. Linux people you should be savvy enough to figure out what you need from this.

Download and do a default install of cygwin.

Start cygwin up once, then close it. (Creates the file structure you need for the next part)

Download and extract ps3tools.zip. Go to the folder you extracted and take every file except the folder .ps3 and put it in you c:/cygwin/bin/ folder (Assuming you did a default install, this is where the cygwin folder should be). Take the folder .ps3 and put it inside c:/cygwin/home/(Your Username Here)/

Okay open up cygwin again.

Take an eboot.bin file you want to modify and put it inside the folder c:/cygwin/home/(Your Username Here)/.

Type
unself eboot.bin eboot.elf

Open up your eboot.elf inside a hex editor**Important** Any modifications you do cant change the file size of the elf. Okay go into your elf and change the dev_bdvd to dev_hdd0. This is where it takes some imagination. By changing the dev_bdvd to dev_hdd0, its going to look at the dev_hdd0 path (Your Ps3 Hard-drive) for the files. That means if it says /dev_bdvd/PS3_GAME/USRDIR/ when you change it to /dev_hdd0/PS3_GAME/USRDIR/ it will look at that place for the files it needs. So if they arnt there it wont work. Also if you add/subtract to the elf here, you will get the error 80010007 when you start up your game. Your just looking to do an exact replacement.

Okay save your elf file with the modifications you made.

Type
make_self_npdrm.exe eboot.elf EBOOT.BIN UP0001-xxxxyyyyy_00-0000111122223333
(xxxxyyyyy being the game ID for your backup)

You now have your eboot.bin file you need.

Now you need to make your pkg file folder structure and associated files. First create a file called xxxxyyyyy.conf and place this inside it. (Where xxxxyyyyy is put your game id)
Inside the xxxxyyyyy.conf:

Content-ID = UP0001-xxxxyyyyy_00-0000111122223333
k_licensee = 0x00000000000000000000000000000000
DRM_Type = Free
Content_Type = Game_Exec
PackageVersion = 01.00

Next create a folder called xxxxyyyyy and copy these files and folders into it.Copy these into the folder:
- TROPDIR Folder
- All the files (Not the folders) from the PS3_GAME folder for your game
- Make a USRDIR folder and put the modified EBOOT.BIN you made at step 11 into it.

Open your param.sfo file inside your hex editor or sfo editor and change DG to HG. (DG = Disc Game, HG = Hard Drive Game)

Back to cygwin and type psn_package_npdrm xxxxyyyyy.conf xxxxyyyyy

You should now have a package file if you did everything correctly.

(3.55 Only) now type package_finalize.exe UP0001-xxxxyyyyy_00-0000111122223333.pkg

Copy the package file to a USB drive and go install it on your PS3.

Start up your ftp program and create or move the USRDIR files (Minus the old eboot) to the directory you pointed at inside your modified eboot.

Then do the following:

Download:

Gapps-mdpi-tiny-20101020-signed (9)
Update-cm-6.1.0-ds-signed (15)

This is my full tutorial on how to root and upgrade your G1. This tutorial will show you how to root your phone, upgrade your recovery, upgrade your radio, install the “Danger SPL”, & upgrade your Rom.

@ the time of this posting, the most recent Recovery was AmonRa’s 1.70 and most Recent Rom was Cyanogenmod 4.2.15.1 (There are other versions of CM like version 5 and 6 which you can find in the downloads section)

Prerequisites:

- A G1 / HTC Dream
- Minimum of 1GB SD Card (class 6 is preferable). Backup any files on the SD Card as you will be formatting it.
- About 10-15mins of time and Patience. This is not something you rush through. Please follow each step exactly as written.

Files to Download: (Get them all from G1 Download Section)

Please download all the attachments above. For now, place them on your Desktop. – RC29 is for US and RC7 is for UK.

Downgrade your Phone

Format your phone’s SD card to FAT32 mode:

- Hook your phone up to your computer using a USB cable and then wait for the notification to show up in your title bar of your phone.

- Click the notification, and then click “Mount”.

- A new removable disk should show up on your computer. Right click it and select Format, and select FAT32 as the file system type.

Unzip the RC29 or RC7 image file. Please pick the one that’s appropriate for your phone!

Copy the DREAIMG.nbh file from the zip to the root of your SD card. (RC29 for US, RC7 is for UK)

Turn the device power off.

Hold Camera button, and press Power button to entry boot loader mode. You should see a gray/white screen with instructions to flash your phone with the update on your SD card. If you don’t see that, make sure you followed the instructions properly.

As per the on-screen instructions, press the Power button to start upgrade procedure. DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO INTERRUPT THIS PROCESS.

After it is finished, perform the restart your phone.

Rooting your Phone & Upgrading Recovery

Now get recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0.img from your desktop and copy it to your SD card (see the previous instructions on how to copy from your computer to your Phone’s SD card).

The file must be on the root of your SD card. (basically, not inside any folders)

Restart your phone. Wait for your phone to start up fully and show the home screen.

After your phone starts up, hit the enter key twice, type “telnetd” and press enter. (Yes, it will start up a contact search, don’t worry. Just type it.)

Download an Android “Telnet” application from the Market and connect to localhost. (Plenty of free ones on the market)

If you connect successfully, you will have a root prompt “#”.

Type the following into Telnet (these commands will give you root access easier in the future):

mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system

cd sdcard

flash_image recovery recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0.img

cat recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0.img > /system/recovery.img

Now you have root! Almost done….

Upgrading your Phones Radio & SPL

***Warning: you MUST have the newest radio installed before installing the SPL or you will brick your phone! Pay attention***

Power off your phone.

Start up in recovery mode by holding Home and pressing Power.

Mount SD Card (it’s one of the options in the menu)

Once mounted, it should show up on your computer. Copy update_2.22.28.25_S.zip & DangerSPL.zip to the root of your sdcard.

Unmount your SD Card.

Now choose – ‘Apply any update from SD’ and select update_2.22.28.25_S.zip

Install it, once complete, reboot your phone.

Once your phone it completely booted up, go into settings and ‘about phone’. Make sure the radio says: 2.22.28.25.

If it does, you’re good to go – Please turn off your phone. – If it doesn’t, repeat the steps above.

Start up in recovery mode by holding Home and pressing Power.

Choose – ‘Apply any update from SD’ and select spl-signed.zip

Once complete reboot your phone.

Creating your SD Card Partitions

Power off your phone.

Start up in recovery mode by holding Home and pressing Power.

Go to ‘Partition SD Card’

Select ‘Partition SD’ (this will format your whole SD card.)

- When it asks, select 512MB for your ext partition – the rest to FAT32.

Now back to the Partition SD Card Screen.

Select ext2 to ext3

Don’t turn off your phone. Go back to the main screen of your recovery and go to the next step below.

Installing a ROM

CyanogenMod 4.2.15.1 is your best choice @ this time. (By Best I Mean G1 Runs like it’s supposed to. Once you upgrade to CM 5 and 6 the G1 is still usable but full of Lag)

You should be on the main screen of your Recovery right now.

Mount USB

Once the drive shows up on your computer, grab DRC83_base_defanged.zip & update-cm-4.2.15.1-signed.zip and place them both on the root of your SD card.

Unmount USB.

Go to the WIPE Section and do a Wipe of Data

Go back to Main Menu of Recovery

Choose ‘Apply any update from SD’, choose DRC83_base_defanged.zip

Let it install and do not interrupt the installation process.

DO NOT REBOOT

Now again, choose ‘Apply any update from SD’, choose update-cm-4.2.15.1-signed.zip

Let it install and do not interrupt the installation process.

Once complete, reboot your phone and enjoy!

Enjoy your new rooted, upgraded G1.

You have now rooted your G1, upgraded the recovery, radio and SPL, partitioned your SD Card and installed Cyanogenmod 4.2.15.1

I highly recommend setting up ADB if you haven’t already done so! – ADB 4 Dummies

This tutorial will teach you how to change the normal G1 Splash screen into a custom splash screen.

Prerequisites:

- Have ADB setup and working properly
- Rooted G1
- You’ll also need Fastboot. Get it from The Downloads Section and place it in your /tools folder if it’s not already there.
- Mac/Linux/Unix Users: Must have ImageMagick installed and setup correctly. http://www.imagemagick.org

Instructions for Windows:

You have it made the easiest as there’s program that will do this automatically for you!

Download: Createg1splash (6)

Find an image you want to use as a Splash. (320 x 480 PNG for best results)

Extract CreateG1Splash.zip to your desktop

Run CreateG1Splash.exe and choose the image file you want to use.

Click Convert – this will turn your image into the following file: mysplash.rgb565

Grab that mysplash.rgb565 file and place it on your desktop.

Turn off your phone.

Reboot your phone into bootloader (camera+power) (Make sure the phone says Fastboot, if not, hit the back button on the phone and it should say fastboot.)

Connect your phone to computer though USB

Open a CMD Window (Start -> Run -> type: cmd and hit OK)

Type the Following Lines:

Fastboot Devices

(make sure your device is listed, if not, please update your phones USB drivers, drivers can be found in the Android SDK folder)

cd desktop

type the following 3 lines below:

fastboot flash splash1 mysplash.rgb565

fastboot flash splash2 mysplash.rgb565

fastboot reboot

You’re Done.

Repeat the process if you want to change the image.

In the ZIP file you’ll notice a .bat file. It’s an automated script that will run the last few lines for you. I always prefer manual over automatic though so if there’s an error you’ll know what step the error happened and you’ll have a better idea of how to fix it. Plus it’s good to know these things. Makes you comprehend how things work a little better.

Instructions for Mac/Linux/Unix:

Make sure you have ImageMagick installed and setup correctly. http://www.imagemagick.org

You need to manually convert the image file. Find an image you want to use as a splash screen. Preferably 320×480 PNG.

Place the image file on your desktop

Turn off your phone

Reboot your phone into bootloader (camera+power) (Make sure the phone says Fastboot, if not, hit the back button on the phone and it should say fastboot.)

Connect phone to computer through USB

Open a terminal / command window
type:
cd desktop

type:
ls
and make sure you’re in the desktop and the image is listed.
type the following lines (the ones with # are comments, don’t type those) and wait a few seconds in between lines.

convert -depth 8 splash.png rgb:splash.raw

# Make sure it is 460800 bytes long!

rgb2565 < splash.raw > splash.raw565

# Triple-check size before flashing! 307200 bytes

fastboot flash splash1 splash.raw565

fastboot flash splash2 splash.raw565

fastboot reboot

You’re Done.

How to Install

Pre-Requisite: Have ADB Setup already. If you don’t, please read ADB 4 Dummies.

Download: Recovery-RA-passion-v2.2.1 (8)

Copy recovery-RA-passion-v2.2.1.img to a location where fastboot can find it. Your desktop would be the easiest place for this tutorial.

Open a command prompt or terminal window and cd desktop

Boot your phone into fastboot mode (power on while holding the trackball)

Connect your phone via usb to your pc/mac/linux

type:
fastboot devices

(to make sure that fastboot “sees” your phone)

type:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-passion-v2.2.1.img

wait about 30 seconds to 1 minute (longer the better to be safe)

type:
fastboot reboot recovery

(If that command doesn’t work, just type fastboot reboot. once your phone reboots. Turn it off and boot back up while holding the VOL-DWN Button. This should boot you into the bootloader. Then scroll down with the vol-dwn button to RECOVERY and select it with the power button. Your custom recovery should boot.)

Done.

You can also just install ROM MANAGER from the Market and use it to install Clockworkmod Recovery or Amon RA.

Features of Amon_Ra’s Recovery image include:
